NATACHA CABRERA // RESTORE ____.

"...EVENTUALLY YOU REALIZE THE REGRET OF NOT FOLLOWING YOUR DREAM BECOMES THE REASON YOU CAN'T SLEEP AT NIGHT, AND HAS YOU THINKING, 'BUT WHAT IF?' "

Inspired by a desire to support others and raise awareness for non-profits, Soul Shaper Natacha Cabrera has found a way to do just that through a subscription based business model for Nail Polish! It's called Restore____., often pronounced "Restore blank", where the "blank" is for the name of the non-profit that changes every month.

She brings out every positive aspect of painting nails while providing a way to take a stand for organizations and causes by matching your color to the cause of the month.

Although Natacha had a difficult time leaving her corporate job to follow her dreams, she took the leap when the time was right and hasn't looked back since. Natacha is proud to donate 10% of her sales to the highlighted cause of each month.

SOUL SHAPERS: Give us a quick background...
NATACHA:
I grew up in Fontana, CA or what most people love to call Fontucky. Im part of a pretty big family and we're all really close. My dad is one of six and they all decided to live within three miles of each other which made it impossible to ditch school, haha. The one time I tried to ditch I ran into my uncle at a stoplight and he followed me until I got to school! I'm the oldest of five siblings and they're all really cool... I honestly feel so lucky because we love spending time with each other. They're my biggest fans and supporters and I couldn't do this journey without them!

SS: How was Restore born into an idea and then a live company?
NATACHA:
The idea actually came to me after one of my best friends went through open heart surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Along with having cancer, she also had a neuro muscular disease which caused her to lose all movement. As soon as she gained back the ability to make small movements, she was able to paint her nails and that became a sign of hope (read her full story here)!

During her surgery, I painted my nails and posted a photo to her Facebook wall letting her know I was praying and standing with her. I invited others to participate, and within hours almost 100 people joined in and supported! That's when I thought, “what if I can do something like this on a bigger scale and create a way to let people know that others are standing with them?”

SS: Where does the passion for donating to a different cause every month come from?
NATACHA:
There are so many people and organizations working towards making an impact and they all deserve some love! I guess this is my way of highlighting and partnering with as many as I can in one year.

SS: How do you decide on each charity?
NATACHA:
For the most, it's been the ladies of Restore such as subscribers, followers, friends etc. telling me about ones they know and feel strongly about. From there I do a little research and if it feels right, I give them a call to see if they want to be part of what we're doing. If everything aligns and everyone is excited, we move forward from there.

SS: What were some of your challenges with transitioning from your previous and full-time job to fueling your dream job, Restore? How did you overcome those challenges?
NATACHA:
Oh where do I start! I've had the idea of starting Restore for eight years, but it's scary to actually do something you're passionate about when you know there's a chance it will fail. I've been fortunate to have really awesome, fun jobs, but that also “gave me the excuse” not to start Restore... why would I when my jobs were with strong and exciting brands?
But eventually you realize the regret of not following your dream becomes the reason you can't sleep at night, and has you thinking, “but what if”?! A year ago I was working at a tech start-up which came with a lot of risks, but I learned that it comes with even more reward! It didn't take off like we had hoped, so when it was my turn to leave I knew it was also time to move on and start my own thing.

SS: What do you hope to achieve in your work?
NATACHA:
To always be doing something that matters.

"I WANT RESTORE TO BE A SIGN OF SUPPORT FOR ANYONE GOING THROUGH HARD TIMES..."

SS: What is the number one message and motive you hope to convey to your subscribers and followers through the discovery of you and Restore_____.?
NATACHA:
We have all been through something difficult in our lives, and chances are that “something” comes with a sense of loneliness. I want Restore to be a sign of support for anyone going through hard times, especially aligning with the causes we highlight each month. I hope they don't feel alone and they know we are standing with them.

SS: If someone is feeling discouraged or down, how would you advise them to get their spark back and stay confident in what they are creating/doing?
NATACHA:
I read this somewhere and I always go back to it: “Remember why you started”.

SS: Who or what has helped shape your soul lately?
NATACHA:
My faith plays the biggest part in that, along with my family and all the wonderful people I'm surrounded by. I've also really enjoyed listening to the “How I Built This” podcast, and reading the “Power of Starting Something Stupid” by Richie Norton.
