Literacy is a gift that many of us take for granted... Literacy is Freedom.
The KICKIT Mobile Library Project serves rural communities in Tanzania Africa bringing the gift of books and reading to children who are the most vulnerable. The Mobile Libraries are tailored to fit these communities’ environment, such as large trucks filled with books strapped on to the back of bicycles, which serve 11 villages twice a week.
THE PROJECT BEGAN IN 2016 AND HAS ALREADY SEEN TREMENDOUS SUCCESS: -As many as 100 children show up to library hours! -Many of the books focus on improving the children’s ability to participate and excel in school -Library hours are free to all community members
Literacy is Freedom and we are seeing the power of access to books transforming the lives of these remarkable children and villagers.
WHERE YOUR DONATIONS ARE GOING: - To our four employees, our amazing mobile librarians. All the libraries are curated by a local Tanzania staff - New books!! Many of the kids are so motivated to learn and read every book, which means a constant circulation of new materials is imperative! - Bike repairs: these bikes ride through extremely rugged terrain to reach these remote villages and are constantly in need of repair!
